President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov held talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on Wednesday in Ashgabat, according to Turkmenistan's official media.
Welcoming the head of Russia’s foreign policy department, Turkmen President Berdimuhamedov expressed confidence that Lavrov’s visit to Ashgabat and the upcoming discussions would contribute to strengthening the Turkmen-Russian partnership.
The president conveyed warm greetings and best wishes to Russian President Vladimir Putin, emphasizing that Russia remains a strategic partner for Turkmenistan.
The two sides discussed current issues of bilateral cooperation and reaffirmed their mutual commitment to further strengthening ties. It was noted that Turkmen-Russian relations are based on strong traditions of friendship and good neighborliness. Political dialogue continues to develop, working-level contacts between relevant agencies are maintained, interparliamentary cooperation is gaining momentum, and regular consultations between the foreign ministries are ongoing.
On the same day, Turkmen Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
