OIC Adopts Resolution on Role of Neutrality at Turkmenistan’s Initiative

A resolution initiated by Turkmenistan on the role of neutrality in promoting international peace, security, and sustainable development was unanimously adopted at the meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), held June 21–22, 2025, in Istanbul, Türkiye.

According to Turkmenistan’s Foreign Ministry, the resolution emphasizes that neutrality, as a political and legal instrument, contributes to strengthening international and regional stability and plays a key role in fostering peaceful, friendly, and mutually beneficial relations among states.

The adoption of this resolution within the OIC platform serves as clear confirmation of the international community’s recognition and support for Turkmenistan’s peace-oriented political strategy, aimed at strengthening mutual trust, promoting dialogue, and advancing effective international cooperation.

At the forum, the Turkmen representative emphasized that one of the key priorities of the country’s foreign policy is to further strengthen cooperation within the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and enhance effective relations with all member states.

A roundtable discussion titled “Peace and Trust: Foundations of Unity and Stability in the Islamic World” was also held on Turkmenistan’s initiative on the sidelines of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers meeting.
