Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov arrived in Ashgabat on June 24 for an official visit, as reported by Russia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During the visit, Lavrov is scheduled to hold talks with President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Deputy Chairman of Turkmenistan’s Cabinet of Ministers and Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov. According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, discussions will focus on a broad range of issues related to bilateral cooperation, regional developments, and current international matters.
As part of the visit, the foreign ministers of the two countries are expected to sign a cooperation program for 2025–2026.
This year, Russia and Turkmenistan are co-chairing the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), and Ashgabat is set to assume the chairmanship in 2026.
