Chinese President Xi Jinping invited Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov to attend the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit and other international events in China, during bilateral talks held on Tuesday in Astana on the sidelines of the second “China–Central Asia” summit.
In turn, Turkmen President Berdimuhamedov extended an invitation to Xi to pay an official visit to Turkmenistan at a time of his choosing, according to Turkmenistan’s official media.
The meeting took place at the St. Regis Hotel in the Kazakh capital, where both leaders discussed the strategic nature of Turkmen-Chinese relations.
Following the talks, Turkmenistan and China signed an intergovernmental agreement on technical and economic cooperation.
According to report, the two sides reviewed the current status and future prospects of bilateral cooperation, as well as regional and international issues of mutual interest. Both leaders noted that relations between the two countries have reached the level of strategic partnership in areas including politics, trade, culture, and humanitarian affairs.
President Berdimuhamedov arrived in Astana to participate in the second China–Central Asia Summit hosted in the capital of Kazakhstan.
