Turkmen citizens performing the Hajj pilgrimage in the holy cities of Mecca and Medina gave sadaqah (charitable offerings) in honor of the Eid al-Adha holiday, as reported by Turkmenistan newspaper on Monday.
This year, 2,844 pilgrims from Turkmenistan traveled to Saudi Arabia for Hajj. Among them, 289 people made the pilgrimage at the government’s expense, while 2,555 participated on an individual basis.
According to the report, the Turkmen side ensured all necessary conditions for the organized conduct of the Hajj rituals. Special charter flights were arranged, and medical personnel accompanied the pilgrims to monitor their health throughout the journey.
After the blessings, those who took part in the sadaqah ceremony received traditional treats and expressions of respect. The pilgrims prayed for their sacrifices and prayers — both abroad and at home — to be heard and accepted.
