Turkmenistan will continue to develop small and medium-sized businesses in 2025 by issuing loans for projects aimed at private enterprise growth, with the goal of increasing the private sector's share of GDP to 71.6 percent, as reported by the official media of Turkmenistan.
At an expanded meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on the results of 2024, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov ordered this and emphasized that the stable growth of the national economy depends on activating private entrepreneurship. He instructed the government to focus on developing the non-governmental sector.
Members of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan play a key role in implementing government programs aimed at increasing the production of import-substituting goods, boosting exports, and establishing an electronic industry.
In 2024, agricultural and food production grew by 110 percent, and industrial goods production increased by 104.1 percent. Compared to the previous year, the overall volume of loans issued by banks to the private sector, individuals, and small and medium-sized businesses also increased.
