President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov during the visit of the Turkmen delegation to Tashkent on January 26-27, 2025.
The parties discussed issues of political-diplomatic, economic, and cultural cooperation. Special attention was paid to joint projects in trade, economics, transportation, energy, and water sectors, as well as cooperation within regional and international organizations, including the UN, as reported by the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan.
During the visit, Rashid Meredov also met with the Deputy Secretary of the Security Council under the President of Uzbekistan and Special Representative for Foreign Policy Abduaziz Kamilov. The negotiations focused on key areas of bilateral cooperation, including strengthening security collaboration, developing logistics, and addressing water management issues.
Additionally, the foreign ministers of both countries held political consultations. Following the event, they signed a Cooperation Program for 2025-2026 and a Protocol to update the legal framework.
