President of Turkmenistan and St.Petersburg Governor Discussed Bilateral Cooperation

The President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, arrived in St.Petersburg to participate in the informal summit of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), as reported by the news program Watan habarlary.

Governor Alexander Beglov welcomed the Turkmen leader at Pulkovo Airport.

During a brief conversation, the parties discussed issues of economic and cultural interaction between Turkmenistan and St.Petersburg, as reported by the press service of the St.Petersburg Governor.

Alexander Beglov noted, "St.Petersburg collaborates with Turkmenistan in various fields, and our relationship is developing dynamically."

In recent years, St.Petersburg and Turkmenistan have strengthened their cooperation in different areas. Specialists from St.Petersburg actively participate in building road infrastructure in southern Ashgabat, completing a total of 25 projects, including highways, bridges, and interchanges.

The collaboration also extends to the energy sector, where the Turkmenenergo state enterprise interacts successfully with the Russian company Power Machines.

Cultural and educational ties continue to grow. Last academic year, around two thousand students from Turkmenistan enrolled in St.Petersburg universities, reflecting the increasing interest in Russian education.

The informal CIS summit began on Wednesday in St.Petersburg. The event includes President of Russia Vladimir Putin, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, and President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
