President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedow Arrives in Kuala Lumpur for Official Visit on Wednesday.
Government officials welcomed the head of state at Kuala Lumpur International Airport, as reported by official media of Turkmenistan.
The state delegation includes representatives from foreign policy, agriculture, culture, education, and the oil and gas sector, as reported by Malaysia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
An official meeting with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim will take place in Putrajaya on December 19. During the negotiations, they plan to discuss bilateral cooperation in political, economic, trade, energy, technology, logistics, and industrial sectors, as well as in education, tourism, and cultural exchanges. Additionally, the two sides will exchange views on regional and international issues.
From January to October 2024, trade between Malaysia and Turkmenistan increased by 74.8%, reaching 63.28 million Malaysian ringgits (USD 13.90 million), compared to 36.19 million ringgits (USD 7.91 million) during the same period in 2023. In 2023, Turkmenistan ranked as Malaysia's fourth-largest trading partner among Central Asian countries, with a trade volume of 48.62 million ringgit (USD 10.57 million).
