President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov made a working visit to Hungary on Sunday to participate in the solemn events held in Budapest for the World Athletics Championships and the National Holiday of the country – St. Stephen's Day.
President of Turkmenistan visited Budapest at the invitation of the Prime Minister of Hungary Victor Orban, according to official Turkmen media.
In the Hungarian capital, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Prime Minister Viktor Orban held a meeting, attended by representatives of both countries' delegations.
The Head of Turkmenistan expressed sincere gratitude for the invitation to visit Hungary, as well as for the warm reception. President Serdar Berdimuhamedov congratulated Prime Minister Viktor Orban and the entire people of the country on the hosting of World Athletics Championships and St. Stephen's Day.
During the meeting, it was emphasized that energy is one of the key priority areas for mutual cooperation. In this context, the Turkmen side noted that the European vector has been and remains a priority for Turkmenistan.
The Hungarian side highly appreciated Turkmenistan's energy policy based on the principles of diversification and equal cooperation and is interested in productive interaction in this direction, according to the report.
Transport, industry, pharmaceuticals, and agriculture were identified among other promising areas of cooperation.
After the meeting, President of Turkmenistan visited the National Athletics Center, where, together with other high-ranking guests, he watched the final race of the 100-meter sprint among men.
On behalf of the Hungarian side, a ceremonial reception was held for the distinguished guests on the occasion of St. Stephen's Day.
On June 9 of this year, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov received Prime Minister of Hungary Viktor Orban in Ashgabat. The Turkmen-Hungarian high-level negotiations resulted in the signing of a package of bilateral documents.
