President of Turkmenistan Held a Working Meeting on Agricultural Development

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov on Monday held a working meeting attended by several Deputy Chairmen of the Cabinet of Ministers, regional governors (hyakims), heads of relevant ministries, sectoral departments, and others. The agenda focused on the state of affairs in the regions and the agricultural sector, as well as various organizational issues.

As reported, to successfully implement the agricultural reforms initiated by the head of state, improve production-economic relations in this sector, economically stimulate producers, and strengthen the country's food security, state purchase prices for wheat, cotton, rice, and sugar beets have been increased starting from the 2024 harvest.

Thanks to the President's relentless efforts to economically stimulate domestic agricultural producers, create favorable conditions for their diligent and productive work, ensure timely payments for harvested products, and improve living conditions for rural populations, more than 1.4 million tons of wheat and over 2,150 tons of silkworm cocoons were harvested this year on Turkmenistan's fertile soil.

In livestock farms, appropriate work is being carried out to stockpile feed reserves to ensure proper animal care, increase livestock numbers, and boost productivity. Necessary measures are also being taken to increase the number of Akhal-Teke horses, ensure their proper care, and maintain breed purity.

Farmers are fully provided with technical services, water, mineral fertilizers, seeds, and chemicals. Payments for delivered products are made promptly. Starting from this year's harvest, state purchase prices for grain and cotton were raised to economically stimulate producers. All conditions for fruitful work of farmers have been created in Turkmenistan.

The President ordered an increase in the range and volume of consumer goods produced, ensure the targeted and efficient use of state-purchased agricultural machinery and land resources allocated for crop cultivation, and accelerate the creation of a unified State Land Cadastre system. Instructions also included taking appropriate measures to rationalize water usage, create additional water reserves, monitor the state of hydro systems, and optimize them.

Additionally, the head of state instructed to maintain strict control over comprehensive measures to protect and enrich Turkmenistan's unique ecosystems, flora, and fauna, and to consistently implement advanced methods and innovative technologies for the development of livestock and poultry farming. Regarding horse breeding, he ordered an increase in the number of horses and to conduct work in this area on a scientific basis.

Addressing the regional governors, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov instructed them to take appropriate measures to ensure the timely implementation of adopted programs locally and to maintain strict control over the pace and quality of construction projects.
