Tajikistan’s Transport Minister, Azim Ibrohim, has directed relevant agencies to organize a pilot train for the multimodal corridor China – Tajikistan – Uzbekistan – Turkmenistan – Iran – Türkiye – Europe, Transport and Communications Agency under the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan reports..
The minister also emphasized the need to update railway wagons and locomotives, enhance digitalization efforts in the sector, construct logistics centers including the Iranian port of Chabahar, and improve both the volume and quality of freight and passenger transportation. He also called for the construction of new transit railway lines.
During the talks between the presidents of Turkmenistan and Tajikistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Emomali Rahmon, held in Dushanbe in May 2023, the sides identified the transport sector as a priority area for bilateral cooperation. Special attention was given to increasing efficiency and creating new international transport corridors, including the multimodal corridor China – Tajikistan – Uzbekistan – Turkmenistan – Iran – Türkiye.
