Turkmenistan Intends to Strengthen Cooperation with EU Countries

On 13 July, the sixth session of the Mejlis of the seventh convocation was held, where a number of laws developed in accordance with the priorities of the state policy of the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and a comprehensive programme to modernise the legislative and legal framework of the country were considered and adopted.

According to the agenda, the deputies were presented with a draft law on the ratification of the Protocol to the Agreement between Turkmenistan, on the one hand, and the European Union and its member States, on the other hand, given that the Republic of Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, the Republic of Estonia, the Republic of Croatia, the Republic of Cyprus, the Republic of Latvia, the Republic of Lithuania, the Republic of Hungary, the Republic of Malta, the Republic of Poland, Romania, the Republic of Slovenia and the Republic of Slovakia have joined the European Union.

One of the main issues on the agenda was the deputies' consideration of the draft law "On ratification of the Amendment to Article VI of the Statute of the International Atomic Energy Agency adopted on 1 October 1999", which states that the purpose of the Agency is to achieve faster and wider use of atomic energy to maintain world peace, health and welfare.
