Business 2025: Austrian House to Open in Turkmenistan

Turkmenistan's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Rashid Meredov, during the regular online government session on Friday, brought forward a proposal to open an Austrian House in the country in 2025.

According to official Turkmen media, Foreign Minister briefed the government on the outcomes of the Turkmen delegation's working visit to the Republic of Austria. 

Meredov stated that during the negotiations held in Vienna with the Federal Minister for European and International Affairs of Austria, a wide range of issues regarding bilateral cooperation were discussed. Following the negotiations, a Cooperation Program between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs of the Republic of Austria for 2024-2025 was signed.

The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs presented proposals regarding the establishment of a Turkmen-Austrian Business Council, the organization of the 12th session of the Turkmen-Austrian Working Commission in Vienna in June of the current year, arranging a visit to the country by representatives of Austrian business circles in December of the current year, and preparing the relevant document defining specific directions of bilateral trade and economic cooperation.

Acknowledging that the negotiations in Vienna aim to further strengthen Turkmen-Austrian relations from a multi-vector perspective, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov approved the presented proposals. He instructed the Deputy Prime Minister and the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to continue systematic work in this direction.
