The Turkmen delegation, led by Rashid Meredov, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, participated in the World Government Summit (WGS 2024) during their working visit to the United Arab Emirates on Monday, as reported by the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan on Tuesday.
During the "Effective Policy" session, Meredov underscored Turkmenistan's commitment as a responsible member of the international community, emphasizing the clear formulation and implementation of the country's approaches and actions. He delineated priorities through which Turkmenistan aims to swiftly contribute to the achievement of global goals.
Transport connectivity and sustainability were highlighted by Meredov. Over the past decade, six resolutions on sustainable transport, initiated by Turkmenistan, have been adopted by the UN General Assembly.
Meredov proposed the establishment of a Global Atlas of Sustainable Transport Connectivity, a Global Energy Security and Sustainability Cooperation Alliance, and the development of a Global Circular Economy Framework based on the principles of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
