Priority aspects of the Turkmen-Georgian dialogue discussed in a remote format

A wide range of issues of Turkmen-Georgian interaction was discussed during a meeting of representatives of Turkmenistan and Georgia, held in a video conference format.

As President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov notes, our neutral state is always open for fruitful cooperation with all interested foreign partners, including Georgia, with which our country has long-standing ties of friendship.

A reliable basis for bringing the Turkmen-Georgian partnership to a whole new level was laid by the agreements reached at the highest level in recent years.

In the matter of building up long-term trade and economic ties, a significant role is assigned to the Intergovernmental Commission, which is called upon to activate a multi-aspect partnership, including through business structures.

The videoconference held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan was also attended by heads and representatives of the Ministry of Finance and Economics, the Ministry of Trade and Foreign Economic Relations, a number of agencies and transport and logistics centers of our country.

From the Georgian side, the meeting was attended by Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Khvtisiashvili, Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Deputy Minister of Finance, heads of agencies and companies.

The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to Turkmenistan Mamuka Murgikneli also took part in the online meeting.

As is known, the favorable geographical location of the two states and the commonality of economic interests determine favorable conditions for the effective addition of efforts to create multimodal transit and transport corridors with the use of the potentials of the Caspian and Black Sea regions.

An example of this is the project of the Lazurite transport corridor along the route Afghanistan-Turkmenistan-Azerbaijan-Georgia-Turkey. The implementation of such projects will provide broad prospects for inter-regional integration, will serve as an intensification of trade and economic cooperation throughout the Eurasian space.

In this context, during the current video conference, special emphasis was placed on cooperation in the transport and transit sphere. Increased attention was paid to the international transport corridor of the Caspian Sea - the Black Sea. In this regard, the importance of establishing mutually beneficial contacts in the field of logistics was noted.
