Turkmenistan Considers Attraction of Foreign Investments For Urea Plant’s Reconstruction

One of the first urea plants in Turkmenistan, Tejen Urea plant opened in 2005 in Ahal velayat’s Tejen city.

Turkmen government considers the issue of major reconstruction of the Tejen Urea plant at the expense of foreign investments.

Deputy Chairman of Turkmen Government Chary Purchekov, overseeing the industrial and construction complex, briefed on the reconstruction plans to the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov during the online cabinet meeting on Friday, the country’s official media reports.

The Vice-Premier briefed on the measures to increase the country's chemical production capacity.

He said the Turkmen Chemicals State Concern not only fully supplies the country's agricultural producers with urea fertilizers, but also exports a significant share of its products, adding that the Concern presently implements measures to increase the productivity of the country's urea plants with the aim of increasing export volumes.

The specialists analyzed technological equipment and structures of the State Concern’s Tejen Urea plant in order to bring its productivity to the design capacity, Purchekov said in his briefing.

The Vice-Premier reported that as a result of the activities of the Turkmen Chemicals to attract foreign investors, proposals are being studied for the capital reconstruction of the urea plant and the payment for capital investments with the factory’s products.

Following the report, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov stressed the importance of the uninterrupted functioning of chemical complexes and their operation in maximum production capacity. To this end, the Head of State instructed the Vice-Premier to once study the issue of concluding a contract with foreign partners to reconstruct the Tejen Urea plant and then send it for consideration to the appropriate state structures.
