Turkmen Businesses Consider Construction of Chemical Plant

At present, relevant surveys are being conducted for the implementation of the project.

Member businesses of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan (UIET) are exploring the possibility of building a private chemical plant for the production of perchloric acid, calcium chloride and hydrochloride, the Union reported on Saturday.

Chlorine, which is a by-product of the production of caustic soda in the Balkan velayat of the country, will serve as the raw material for the new production. The new products can be widely used in the country’s chemicals and oil and gas sectors, and will replace imported analogs, according to the report.

At present, relevant surveys are being conducted for the implementation of the project. The businesses are also considering the possibility of attracting local and foreign investments for the construction of the facility.

Established in 2008, the UIET unites more than 25 thousand businesses operating in different sectors of the national economy.
