The farmers collect 15-20 kg of tomatoes from each bush in the greenhouse.
Entrepreneur Bayram Muhiyev’s greenhouse in the Sarakhs etrap of Turkmenistan’s Ahal velayat has started collecting its first tomato harvest this year.
According to Ahal Durmuşy newspaper’s Wednesday report, the greenhouse covers an area of 5 hectares, consists of two sectors and employs 70 people. Around 195 thousand seedlings of various types of tomatoes were planted in the greenhouse.
The greenhouse is equipped with modern machinery, which allows full automation of all processes, including control over the level of humidity, illumination and temperature. This, in turn, contributes to the ripening of the crops after 85-90 days. The farmers collect 15-20 kg of tomatoes from each bush in the greenhouse, according to the report.
Turkmen businesses have commissioned over hundred greenhouse farms with a total area of more than 356 hectares last year. Around 150 modern greenhouses with a total area of 1,300 hectares are expected to open this year.
