The private farmer expects a rich harvest of Redons tomatoes planted on five hectares of the greenhouse this year.

The development of greenhouses has given a tangible impetus to the Turkmen agro-industrial complex, which in recent years has shown steady growth rates. New enterprises are opening, food imports are decreasing, and agricultural production and export are increasing.

During the first eight months of 2020, Turkmenistan exported 32 thousand tons of vegetables for $34.9 million, which is 61.4% and 69.4% more compared to January-August 2019, respectively. The main share in the export of vegetables is occupied by tomatoes (94.2%), including grown in greenhouses.

According to Rysgal newspaper’s Monday issue, Entrepreneur Nurmuhammet Gapurov’s greenhouse complex in Ak Bugday etrap of Ahal velayat has been growing tomato seedlings since last year, which are then sent to different parts of the country.

The greenhouse produced four million seedlings of selected varieties of tomatoes this year. In the future, the businessman envisages the export of products abroad.

Recently, a modern greenhouse of Entrepreneur Halmammet Amanmammedov was commissioned in the city of Balkanabat in Turkmenistan’s western velayat of Balkan. The total area of the greenhouse is five hectares, on four of which 93 thousand units of tomato seedlings were planted. The first crop is planned to be harvested in late November.
