Large Container Train From China Arrives in Turkmenistan

TULM plans to carry out this type of transportation on a regular basis.

Transport and Logistics Center of Turkmenistan (TULM) OJSC has facilitated transportation of a container train, consisting of 48 units of 40-foot containers, to Turkmenistan along the Altynkol-Bolashak railway route.

TULM told Business Turkmenistan online outlet that the container train’s journey along the route lasts on average two weeks. Kazakhstan's KTZ Express JSC and Turkmenistan-based Turkmen Ak Yol Economic Society also contributed to the transportation of the container train.

The total length of the route is 8,746 kilometers, of which 712 kilometers pass through Turkmenistan from Turkmenbashi port to Serhetyaka, 3,450 kilometers pass through Kazakhstan from Bolashak to Altynkol and 4,584 kilometers pass through China from Horgos to Qingdao.

On August 12 this year, TULM facilitated the transportation of polypropylene to China via the North-South railway corridor. The first container train with the polypropylene cargo, consisting of 42 units of 40-foot containers, departed from the Turkmenbashi seaport.

TULM plans to carry out such types of transportation on a regular basis. The company intends to continue to contribute to the development of international railway communications of Turkmenistan and its trade relations with other countries.
