The railway administrations of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan have agreed to introduce competitive tariffs and extend current freight transportation rates.
According to a report from the press service of JSC Uzbekiston Temir Yullari on Tuesday, the issue was discussed during a bilateral meeting at the 81st meeting of the Council for Railway Transport of CIS Countries in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
During the meeting, Azat Atamuradov, head of the Turkmenistan Railway Agency, and Zufar Narzullaev, Chairman of the Board of JSC Uzbekiston Temir Yullari, explored strategic cooperation between the two countries' railway authorities.
The discussion focused on the modernization of freight and passenger car fleets, as well as measures to enhance the efficiency of rolling stock use.
Earlier, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan agreed to implement a parity system for collecting cargo transportation fees and charges.
