Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan Discuss Expanding Energy Supplies and Transit Routes

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov met on Thursday, in Ashgabat, with President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to discuss increasing energy supplies and expanding transit routes in collaboration with Kazakhstan. According to Turkmenistan’s official media, the two leaders explored strengthening economic ties, including projects in the energy, transport, and logistics sectors.

The discussions also touched on cooperation in agriculture, the chemical industry, mechanical engineering, textile production, and cross-border trade.

President Tokayev affirmed Kazakhstan's role as a reliable ally of Turkmenistan in key areas of partnership such as energy, transportation, and cultural ties. He emphasized the importance of regular high-level meetings to foster multifaceted cooperation and commended Turkmenistan's neutral status on the global stage and its contribution to regional and international security.

Both leaders highlighted the significant role of National Leader Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov in fostering strong interstate relations.

Following the talks, a ceremony was held to sign a set of bilateral agreements. President Tokayev reiterated Kazakhstan's commitment to close collaboration with Turkmenistan, particularly within the framework of the United Nations and other international organizations.

President Berdimuhamedov expressed gratitude for Kazakhstan's support of Turkmenistan's neutral foreign policy and underscored the importance of advancing trade, economic ties, and cooperation in sectors like energy, transport, and agriculture.

The meeting concluded with both sides reaffirming their commitment to further strengthen the friendly relations between Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan.
