Turkmenistan's Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov reported at the online government meeting on Saturday about the organization of a meeting between Turkmenistan's President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida as part of the upcoming Central Asia+Japan Summit in Astana.
According to Turkmen state media, Meredov also informed the government about the bilateral documents planned for signing, covering various areas of cooperation.
Addressing the topic of cooperation with Malaysia, a significant partner for Turkmenistan, the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister also voiced several proposals aimed at strengthening interstate relations.
In 2022, Turkmenistan initiated the idea of creating a "Central Asia+ASEAN" format. To practically implement the idea, the Foreign Minister proposed to hold a relevant international meeting or forum in Turkmenistan in the second half of the year.
Approving the presented proposals, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov focused on upcoming high-level negotiations, visits, and meetings of various formats, and instructed the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister to ensure the proper organization of all planned events.
A number of issues of state policy were also discussed at the latest government meeting.
