Meeting of President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and President of China Xi Jinping, September 15, 2022, Samarkand, Uzbekistan.

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and President of China Xi Jinping invited each other to visit their respective countries, the official Turkmen media reports.

The meeting took place on the sidelines of the summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) on Thursday.

During the meeting, President Xi Jinping supported the proposals of the Turkmen side on the construction of the fourth line of the Turkmenistan-China gas pipeline.

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov proposed to hold a regular meeting of the established Joint Working Group on Gas Cooperation in order to intensify the negotiation process on the construction of the pipeline’s fourth line.

Taking the opportunity, the Head of Turkmenistan invited Chinese President Xi Jinping to visit Turkmenistan.

The Chinese Leader, having accepted the invitation, in turn invited President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty chamber of Turkmen parliament Milli Gengesh Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to visit China.

During the meeting, President Xi Jinping also stressed the need to expand cooperation between the two countries in the natural gas sector.
