Turkmen President Congratulates Citizens on May 9 Victory Day

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov said, “The Turkmen people, together with other fraternal peoples, waged an uncompromising struggle against this ruthless tyranny.”

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov on Monday congratulated the people of the country on the occasion of the 77th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945.

“At the Halk Hakydasy memorial complex in the capital of independent, neutral Turkmenistan, the city of Ashgabat, at the memorials in all cities and villages of the country, we will honor the memory of our brave compatriots who courageously endured these difficult trials together with other fraternal peoples,” President Berdimuhamedov said in the message published by the country's official media.

“1941-1945 were the most tragic years in the history of mankind. As a result of the predatory, extortionate and ruthless policy of fascism, millions of people became victims of this terrible war,” Serdar Berdimuhamedov stated, adding that “the Turkmen people, together with other fraternal peoples, waged an uncompromising struggle against this ruthless tyranny.”

“During the terrible war years, the inhabitants of Turkmenistan – women, elderly, children – worked around the clock with great faith in victory, boundless love for life, their homeland, thereby bringing the Great Victory closer,” President Berdimuhamedov emphasized.

The Head of State also received congratulations on the occasion of Victory Day from the heads of Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Azerbaijan and Belarus, as well as from the Prime Minister and the first President of Kazakhstan.
