Turkmenistan and Switzerland have previously discussed the need to expand trade and economic cooperation by creating new collaborative mechanisms.
Turkmenistan offers certain business opportunities for Swiss companies, the Baku-based Trend news agency reported on Tuesday with reference to the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO).
"Turkmenistan offers certain business opportunities for the Swiss private sector e.g. in the textile industry, the oil and gas industry as well as in the fields of infrastructure and construction," SECO told Trend.
However, the decision to enter a foreign market, according to the secretariat, lies with the Swiss private sector.
The trade between Turkmenistan and Switzerland totaled CHF 5.9 million ($6.4 million) in 2021, according to SECO.
Last year, Turkmenistan’s imports from Switzerland totaled CHF 5.8 million ($6.29 million), while Turkmenistan’s exports to Switzerland amounted to CHF 0.1 million ($108,605).
