Turkmenistan actively participates in the events held by the IRENA at the international and regional levels.
The Deputy Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Berdiniyaz Matiyev and the Director-General of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) Francesco La Camera in an online meeting on Tuesday spoke in favor of intensifying mutual cooperation in the rational use of renewable and alternative energy sources.
During the talks, the sides noted the effectiveness of the mutual dialogue, the Turkmen Foreign Ministry said in its press release. The Turkmen side actively participates in the events held by the Agency at the international and regional levels, including the sessions of the IRENA Assembly.
In order to further develop renewable energy sources, as well as ensure energy security and integrate energy-saving innovative technologies into various sectors of the national economy, Turkmenistan approved the National Strategy for the Development of Renewable Energy until 2030, according to the statement.
On July 2, 2020, the first meeting of the Interdepartmental Working Group on the development of the National Strategy of Turkmenistan for the Development of Renewable Energy was held online. The interdepartmental working group was created on June 26, 2020 in accordance with the Decree of the President of Turkmenistan.
