Russia’s Vladimir Oblast to Develop Trade, Economic Cooperation With Turkmenistan

Trade Representative of the Russian Federation in Turkmenistan Alexander Elizarov on Tuesday held a video conference meeting with the representatives of Russia’s Vladimir oblast. The officials mainly discussed the further expansion of cooperation between Turkmenistan and Vladimir oblast, the press service of the regional administration reports.

The head of the oblast’s Department of Economic Development Denis Davydov and the head of the oblast’s Department of Agriculture Konstantin Demidov, representatives of the oblast’s Export Support Center and a number of Vladimir-based companies attended the virtual meeting.

According to the press service, in recent years the Vladimir oblast has been stepping up cooperation with Turkmenistan. Thus, the oblast exports about 30 varieties of products to the country. Among them are confectionery, pasta, dumplings, as well as silicones, electric motors and generators. Turkmenistan supplies textiles and plastics to the Vladimir oblast.

In turn, Elizarov proposed to officials of Vladimir oblast to participate in Industry Exhibition of the National Economy of Turkmenistan in March 2021, and to organize a meeting of the Governor of the oblast with the President of Turkmenistan.

According to the Kostrama.Today news outlet, a Russian city of  Kostroma located on the Volga River’s bank, is looking for a twin city in Turkmenistan in order to develop cultural and economic ties.

Kostroma city presently has 19 twin cities. Besides the Turkmen city, Kostroma is also looking for a twin city in Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan.
