Turkmen government considers to privatize 10 state-owned properties through auctions.
During the online cabinet meeting on Friday, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov was briefed on the management of state properties, the potential of private sector of the economy, and the development of small and medium-sized businesses.
The briefing was presented by the Deputy Chairman of the Government Serdar Berdimuhamedov, who is in charge of economic and financial issues.
The Vice-Premier Berdimuhamedov said the Ministry of Finance and Economy, with inputs from other government branches, analyzed state-owned enterprises subject to denationalization and privatization.
The Vice-Premier said the list of properties subject for privatization has been prepared in accordance with the proposals received to date and discussed at the meetings of the Interdepartmental Central Commission under the Ministry of Finance and Economy.
The list includes five properties of the Türkmengaz - the national gas company, three properties of the Turkmen Motor Vehicles Agency, one from the Türkmenhimiýa - national chemicals company, and one owned by the provincial municipality in Lebap in northeast Turkmenistan.
President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov instructed to re-analyze the feasibility of the state properties proposed for privatization and noted the importance of the tasks in this area. He said the privatization activities must be kept under constant control.
The list of the proposed properties for privatization through auctions is to be announced upon final revision and approval.
Turkmenistan currently takes comprehensive measures to successfully implement economic strategy aimed at gradual transition to market relations.
