Turkmen officials and authorized representatives of the Herat province of Afghanistan held a meeting at the Serhetabat-Turgundi checkpoint. The parties discussed the reinforcing of operation, in particular, increasing cargo passing through the Serhetabat-Turgundi checkpoint, and assistance in the provision of the necessary medical equipment.
Representatives of banking, financial and medical organizations, other specialized and law enforcement agencies of the two countries also took part in the meeting, the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan said in its press release.
During the talks, the sides considered the current issues of bilateral interaction related to the implementation of border, customs and phyto-sanitary supervision in border areas, taking into account the current sanitary and epidemiological standards.
Turkmen Foreign Ministry earlier said Turkmenistan continues to ensure the uninterrupted operation of its checkpoints on the Turkmen-Afghan border, as well as the supply of electricity to Afghanistan in accordance with existing contracts.
