Construction works of the Akina-Andkhoy railroad section in Afghanistan resumed on Monday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan said in its press release.
The construction of the Kerki-Imamnazar-Akina-Andkhoy railway began on June 6, 2014. The opening ceremony of the 30-kilometer section of the Akina-Andkhoy railway in Afghanistan took place on January 14, 2021.
Presently, the section’s technical and adjustment work is underway and it is expected to be completed in the near future, according to the statement.
Turkmenistan continues to provide comprehensive support to the Afghan people in their quest for peace and economic development in Afghanistan. The Embassy of Turkmenistan in Kabul, and Turkmen consulates general in Herat and Mazar-i-Sharif operate as usual.
Last week, the Turkmen Foreign Ministry said Turkmenistan continues to ensure the uninterrupted operation of its checkpoints on the Turkmen-Afghan border – Imamnazar-Akina and Serhetabad-Turgundi.
