Turkmenistan has increased the supply of tomatoes to Russia by 94%.
In 2021, as of August 10, countries such as Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan and Tajikistan have increased the volumes of fruits and vegetables supplied to Russia, the Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing of Russia (Rospotrebnadzor) reported on Monday, citing data from the Argus-Fito information system.
According to Rospotrebnadzor’s data, compared to the same period last year, fruit and vegetable exports from Turkmenistan to Russia increased by 93% from 16.9 thousand tons to 32.7 thousand tons. The country has significantly increased the supply of tomatoes from 16,400 tons to 31,900 tons, a 94% growth compared to the same period last year. During the period, the import of Turkmen carrots increased from 40 tons to 302 tons.
Exports from Azerbaijan increased by 4.6% from 323,300 tons in the same period in 2020 to 338,200 tons in the current period. In 2021, the country increased supplies of potatoes, cucumbers, white onions, beets, apples, watermelons, nectarines, peaches, apricots, persimmons, strawberries, pears, melons, sorrel, lettuce, and spinach to Russia.
The supply of vegetables and fruits from Tajikistan increased by 38% from 4.8 thousand tons to 6.7 thousand tons in 2021. The country has increased the export of dried fruits, cherries, grapes and nectarines to the Russian Federation.
Earlier, the Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed the government to take measures to increase the supply of agricultural products from the CIS countries as part of measures to stabilize food prices.
