The visit of the Turkmen delegation led by the Vice-Premier Serdar Berdimuhamedov to Japan began on July 22.
The co-chairs of the Turkmen-Japanese Committee for Economic Cooperation – Vice Premier of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Managing Executive Officer of Itochu Corporation Hiroyuki Tsubai - during a meeting held last Friday in Tokyo signed bilateral documents in the banking and financial sectors, and in the fields of transport and road-building machinery.
The meeting was also attended by representatives of the Japanese companies, including Itochu Corporation, Mitsubishi Corporation, Sumitomo Corporation, Sojitz Corporation, Marubeni Corporation, Komatsu Ltd and Kawasaki Heavy Industries, the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan said in its press release.
The meeting participants discussed the current state and prospects for the development of trade, economic and investment cooperation between the two countries, which is consistently strengthening due to the strong political will, economic potential and mutual understanding of the parties, according to the statement.
The sides also focused on the strategic vectors for the development of cooperation, including the creation of modern industrial and technological infrastructure in Turkmenistan with the participation of Japanese companies, which can later be used by both countries in the development of economic ties with the regions of the Middle and Near East, the basins of the Caspian, Black and Mediterranean Seas.
The parties expressed their commitment to the further development of the Turkmen-Japanese relations. Upon the outcomes of the talks, the sides signed document in the banking and financial sectors, and in the fields of transport and road technology.
The visit of the Turkmen delegation headed by the Vice-Premier Serdar Berdimuhamedov to Japan’s capital of Tokyo began on July 22. During his visit to the capital, the Vice-Premier was received by the Emperor of Japan Naruhito. The Turkmen official also held talks with the Prime Minister of Japan Yoshihide Suga and State Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry of the country Kiyoshi Ejima.
