International University for the Humanities and Development, Ashgabat, Turkmenistan
A proposal to transform the International University for the Humanities and Development and the Institute of Telecommunications and Informatics to self-financing organizations, starting from the 2021-2022 academic year, were presented to President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov during a government meeting on Friday.
The Vice-Premier of Turkmenistan Mammetmyrat Geldiniyazov presented the proposal during his report at the Cabinet of Ministers meeting. Geldiniyazov also reported on the measures to introduce preparation in Turkmen higher education institutions of new in-demand specialties in various fields, including in the field of healthcare, the country’s official media reports.
Following the report, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov stressed the importance of improving the national education system in order to develop and intensify scientific and educational activities, introduce modern developments and innovative technologies into practice, and establish broad international cooperation.
During the meeting, it was noted that the Ministry of Education, together with the Ministry of Finance and Economy, is working in accordance with the instructions previously given by the Turkmen President to improve the financial and economic conditions of higher education institutions teaching on a paid basis, gradually transforming them to self-financing organizations, and to fulfill the plan of upcoming events to include the country's higher educational institutions in the list of international universities by 2024.
Addressing the Vice-Premier Mammetmyrat Geldiniyazov, the Head of State gave a number of specific instructions in this regard.
