The Ashgabat-Tejen section of the Ashgabat-Turkmenabat highway is expected to open in September this year.
In order to establish intercity transportation of passengers and provide high-quality services in this direction, Turkmenistan plans to create the Ulag Hyzmatlary enterprise on the basis of the Türkmen Awtoban Joint-Stock Company.
The Vice-Premier Chary Gylyjov reported on the matter to President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov during a Cabinet of Ministers meeting on Friday, the country’s official media reports.
Chary Gylyjov noted that proposals for the purchase of passenger buses and cars were studied by Türkmen Awtoban JSC.
In his report, the Turkmen Vice-Premier also said that appropriate work is underway to provide high quality passenger services at the bus stations of the Türkmenawtoulaglary (Turkmen Motor Transport) Agency on a contractual basis.
The construction of the Ashgabat-Turkmenabat continues at a high pace, Gylyjov continued. The Ashgabat-Tejen section of the highway is expected to open on the 30th anniversary of the country’s independence.
Noting that the modernization of the technical base of road transport, in accordance with high environmental and safety standards, is a key aspect of the state socio-economic policy, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov instructed to ensure all conditions for servicing passengers at the proper level and addressing a number of instructions to the Vice-Premier in this regard.
