The parties also considered joint investment projects.
Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov on Thursday held online talks with the Chairman of the Turkmen-Japanese Committee for Economic Cooperation from the Japanese side, Managing Executive Officer of Itochu Corporation Hiroyuki Tsubai. During the talks, the sides discussed the supply of Japanese-made earthmoving and automotive equipment to Turkmenistan.
The heads of the State Bank for Foreign Economic Affairs of Turkmenistan and the Japan-based Sumitomo Corporation also attended the meeting, the Turkmen Foreign Ministry said in its press release.
The meeting participants discussed the matters of long-term cooperation and the possibility of holding the 14th meeting of the Turkmen-Japanese Committee for Economic Cooperation in Tokyo.
The parties also considered joint investment projects and discussed other matters of cooperation.
High-level contacts play an important role in the development of Turkmen-Japanese relations. The President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov visited Japan in 2009, 2013, 2015 and 2019.
