Turkmen-Saudi Intergovernmental Commission to Hold Its Seventh Meeting This Year

The Vice-Premier of Turkmenistan Shahym Abdrahmanov during a government meeting on Friday reported to President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on the ongoing preparations for the seventh meeting of the Turkmen-Saudi Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation scheduled to take place in the first half of this year in Saudi Arabia’s capital of Riyadh.

During the meeting, the Intergovernmental Commission will discuss the implementation of agreements signed during the official visit of the Turkmen President to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in May 2016 and other bilateral documents, the official media of Turkmenistan reports.

The officials will also discuss the prospects for the development of bilateral partnerships in trade, economic, investment, energy, construction and industrial spheres, mining, food and pharmaceutical industries, the healthcare field and between the countries' business circles.

Following the report, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized the high-level of Turkmen-Saudi relations, which is successfully developing both in bilateral and multilateral formats, through regional and international organizations and structures.

Focusing on the importance of the activities of joint intergovernmental commissions, the Head of State emphasized that this practice has proven itself as an effective mechanism for intensifying cooperation, built on a mutually beneficial and long-term basis.
