Beans will be planted almost evenly in all etraps of Dashoguz velayat.
Over four thousand hectares of land will be allotted this year in Turkmenistan’s Dashoguz velayat for planting leguminous crops and sesame seeds. Local farmers intend to harvest at least 375 tons of beans in the fall.
Mung beans, which will be sown on 3,700 hectares of land, will occupy most of the allotted area. The farmers plan to harvest at least 15 centners per hectare of the crop, Turkmenistan’s official media reported last Friday.
Although beans, like mung beans, have a rich cultivation history in the north of Turkmenistan, they are planted here in large volumes only for the second year in a row. At the same time, unlike mung beans, almost one fifth of which is planned to be grown in the S. Turkmenbashi etrap, beans will be planted almost evenly in all etraps of Dashoguz velayat .
Farmers of Dashoguz velayat also plan to grow 350 tons of sesame seeds this year. The sesame seeds will mostly be grown in the velayat’s S. Turkmenbashi and Koneurgench etraps.
