Turkmenistan, Austrian Companies Discuss Joint Production of Medical Products

Austrian businessmen made a detailed presentation of their companies specializing in medical products and presented their products.

Heads of Austrian companies specializing in medical products in an online meeting on Thursday with representatives of the Ministry of Healthcare and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan discussed the creation of joint production of medical products in Turkmenistan.

The meeting was a continuation of the dialogue that took place in January this year, Ashgabat-based Orient news outlet reports.

The heads of such leading Austrian pharmaceutical companies as Sigmapharm and DiproMed, Bernhard Wittmann and Christian Eder, concretized their proposals and discussed the prospects for their implementation.

The online event was organized by the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Vienna, Turkmenistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Healthcare and Medical Industry, and the Austrian-Turkmen Society.

The Turkmen side consisted of heads and representatives of a number of departments and divisions of the Healthcare Ministry, including the Center for State Registration and Quality Control of Medicines and the Center for Public Health and Nutrition, the Department of Virology and the Main Pharmaceuticals Association.

Austrian businessmen made a detailed presentation of their companies and presented their products. They also considered ways to expand cooperation between Turkmenistan and Austria in healthcare field, including the creation of joint production of medicines.

Austrian companies also discussed the supply of drugs and the provision of the necessary package of documents for registration of drugs in Turkmenistan, primarily aimed at preventing viral infections.

Sigmapharm already supplies a number of drugs to Turkmenistan. The company produces sterile and non-sterile sprays, drops and other medicinal products for ear, nose and throat. DiproMed specializes in production of various express tests.
