Turkmenistan Prepares Launch of Its Second Space Satellite

Turkmen Leader instructed to fully use the transponders and the capabilities of the Türkmen Älem 52°E national satellite.

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov during a government meeting on Saturday instructed the Chairman of the Türkmenaragatnaşyk (Turkmen Communications) Agency Hajymyrat Hudayguliyev to accelerate the launch of the second satellite and to use the full operational capacity of the first satellite.

The Head of the agency reported to President that over the past year 192,238 telephone points were installed in the country, fulfilling the relevant plan by 112%. The Agency laid 685 kilometers of communication lines and 266,160 new users connected to the Internet, TDH news agency reports.

In accordance with the Law of Turkmenistan On Electronic Document, Electronic Document Management and Digital Services, 510 websites have been created and registered in the country.

Following the report, the Head of State emphasized the importance of further improving the quality and bandwidth of communication services, adding that the sector should introduce a wide range of modern technologies, expand communication services provided to the population, and make internet services accessible to the public.

Turkmen President said the Türkmenaragatnaşyk Agency was defined as an authorized structure for promoting digitalization and instructed to accelerate the implementation of the Concept for the development of the digital economy in Turkmenistan for 2019-2025.

Turkmen Leader also instructed to improve the provision of the communications sector with highly qualified specialists, to fully use the transponders and the capabilities of the Türkmen Älem 52°E national satellite and in this regard to strengthen advertising and marketing.
