Türkmenhaly State Association exported 2,495 square meters of handmade carpets last year.

Türkmenhaly (Turkmen Carpet) State Association’s enterprises weaved 28,560 square meters of handmade carpets and carpet products last year, the head of the association Ogulhajat Ishanguliyeva noted in her report to President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov during a working meeting on the development of the country's trade complex held on Friday.

According to the report, the growth rate of volume of products manufactured at the enterprises in monetary terms during January-December 2020 amounted to 120.2%. During the period, Türkmenhaly exported 2,495 square meters of handmade carpets, TDH reports.

During the meeting, the Chairman of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan Dovran Hudayberdiyev reported on the activities of private carpet weaving enterprises and noted that the sale of Turkmen handmade carpets is carried out in Berkarar store operating in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Following the reports, Turkmen President noted the relevance of joint activities of Türkmenhaly and UIET with foreign partners and the active use of Turkmen trading houses’ potential in foreign countries, and instructed to take further steps in this direction.

Türkmenhaly State Association is the main supplier of renowned Turkmen handmade pure-wool carpets from Turkmenistan to the global markets. The association includes eight enterprises for the production of traditional Turkmen carpets and these enterprises in turn contain over 100 carpet weaving sites and workshops located in all velayats of Turkmenistan. These enterprises employ more than 5,000 carpet-weavers.
