The foreign ministers exchanged views on matters of bilateral cooperation in political-diplomatic, trade-economic, cultural and humanitarian fields.
Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov on Tuesday held inter-ministerial consultations with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus Vladimir Makei.
During the meeting, the ministers exchanged views on matters of bilateral cooperation in political-diplomatic, trade-economic, cultural and humanitarian fields, the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan said in its Wednesday press release.
The foreign ministers discussed level of trade and economic ties, which is one of the main components of the bilateral agenda. The officials emphasized the importance of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Belarusian Commission on Economic Cooperation, which occupies a key position in growth of trade, investment and industrial cooperation between the countries.
In this regard, the diplomats also highlighted the role of trading houses of Turkmenistan and Belarus, aimed at increasing and expanding the range of Turkmen and Belarusian goods in the markets of the two countries.
The ministers also expressed satisfaction with the results of interaction in regional and international structures, including the UN, OSCE and CIS. The parties highlighted the cooperation within the CIS, which serves as an effective platform for wide range partnership.
The CIS Heads of State Council decided in December 2020 that Belarus would preside in the CIS in 2021.
