Turkmenistan’s Balkanabat City to Get New Airport

The new airport will include a passenger terminal complying with all the requirements of civil aviation, a runway with a length of 2,700 meters and a width of 45 meters.

A new airport will be built in Balkanabat city, the administrative center of Turkmenistan’s Balkan velayat, capable of serving 100 passengers per hour. The modern airport complex will significantly improve services for the population of not only Balkanabat, but also the entire velayat.

According to Turkmenistan’s Golden Age news outlet’s Tuesday report, an innovative infrastructure facility for civil aviation of Turkmenistan is planned to be built in the town of Jebel (18 km from Balkanbat) on the territory of the former airport.

According to the technical conditions developed by the specialists of the Türkmenhowayollary Agency, the complex will include a passenger terminal complying with all the requirements of civil aviation and a runway with a length of 2,700 meters and a width of 45 meters.

All ground services of the airport will be equipped with the latest machinery, technology and mechanisms to ensure the flight safety, the maintenance of aviation equipment and airfield territory and improve passenger service at high-level.

The creation of the new airport in Balkan velayat is expected to significantly improve the level of passenger service.
