Upon entry to the territory of Turkmenistan, the cargo will be transferred from Iranian vehicles to Turkmen, which will deliver the cargo to its destination on the territory of the country or to a third country.
Turkmenistan and Iran have opened in test mode a border crossing for the movement of trucks at the Artyk-Lotfabad checkpoint, ORIENT news outlet reported on Monday with reference to the Iranian media.
In accordance with the agreed sanitary procedures, it was decided that the trucks will cross the border post of the two countries and upon entry to Turkmenistan the cargo will be transferred from Iranian vehicles to Turkmen, which will deliver the cargo to its destination on the territory of the country or to a third country.
After that, the Turkmen trucks will return empty trailers to Iranian drivers in Artyk. A similar operation is possible for Turkmen trucks entering Iran.
On November 29, Iranian Ambassador to Turkmenistan Golam Abbas Arbab Khales said his country is very interested in expanding trade relations with Ashgabat.
In an interview with IRNA, Arbab Khales noted that Iranian and Turkmen companies are making a lot of efforts to maintain and intensify bilateral trade, despite numerous restrictions amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The Iranian Ambassador to Turkmenistan stressed that various aspects of mutual cooperation with Iran in the production and business spheres were considered at a meeting with the Chairman of the Union of Entrepreneurs and Industrialists of Turkmenistan
