Turkmenistan Sets New Fees, Charges For Transit Freight

New fees and charges are established for the period from November 15, 2020 to November 15, 2021.

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov signed a Resolution on Tuesday aimed at streamlining cargo transportation in the country by foreign cargo trailers and semi-trailers and increase the competitiveness of the transport sector in international transportation, TDH news agency reported.

According to the document, from the owners of cargo trailers and semi-trailers from the member states of the Agreement between the governments of Iran, Oman, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan for creating an international transport and transit corridor (Ashgabat Agreement) and the Agreement on Transit and Transport Cooperation (Agreement on Lapis Lazuli corridor), or trailers and semi-trailers of foreign states entering Turkmenistan through the territory of the above mentioned states, while not using  during transit through their territory the trucks of foreign states, corresponding fees and payments are established for the period from November 15, 2020 to November 15, 2021.

The document also established that these fees and charges will be collected by authorized banks and sent to the State Fund for the Development of Golden Age of Turkmenistan.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection, the State Customs Service and the Türkmenawtoulaglary (Turkmen Motor Transport) agency were instructed, together with the Ministry of Adalat (Justice), to prepare and submit to the Cabinet of Ministers proposals on amendments and additions to the legislation of Turkmenistan arising from this Resolution within a month.
