Complex of Motor Transport Enterprises Opens in Turkmen Capital

The new complex includes covered parking lots for around 1800 buses and 800 taxi cars.

The opening ceremony of the Complex of Motor Transport Enterprises and the Training Center of the Association of Driving Schools, with the participation of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, took place in Ashgabat on Friday.

According to the TDH news agency, the commissioning of the new facilities is a clear confirmation that the formation of a modern transport system is among the priorities of the strategy of social and economic development of Turkmenistan.

Head of the Mejlis (Parliament), members of the Government, heads of ministries and sectoral departments, military and law enforcement agencies, public organizations and the media, the Hyakim (Mayor) of Ashgabat also attended the ceremony.

The complex, constructed by Weli Gurluşyk Private Enterprise by order of the Türkmenawtoulaglary (Turkmen Motor Transport) agency, covers an area of over 600 thousand square meters and consists of the buildings of several enterprises, including the Ashgabat Passenger Motor Transport Enterprise, the Association of Driving Schools and the Awtoulag Hyzmaty Open Joint Stock Company.

The new complex also includes a cafeteria with 150 seats, a fire and gas station, covered parking lots for around 1800 buses and 800 taxi cars, 4 service and technical control points, and an auto training ground.

The complex is equipped in accordance with the high requirements of international standards and traffic safety rules. In addition, all facilities and equipment are provided for the efficient operation of the enterprises.

Over the years of independence, the motor transport sector, as an intensively developing industry in the country, has consistently contributed to strengthening the potential of the national economy, the Head of State noted during his opening speech.

Turkmen President underlined that the commissioning of the complex, designed to fulfill the tasks of a large transit center for the Europe-Caucasus-Central Asia (TRACECA) and Afghanistan-Turkmenistan-Azerbaijan-Georgia-Turkey (Lapis-Lazuli) international transport corridors, will contribute to the expansion of the scale works in this area.

Presently, Transport and Logistics Center of Turkmenistan (TULM) Open Joint-Stock Company, together with the Türkmenhowaýollary (Turkmen Airlines), Türkmendemirýollary (Turkmen Railways), Türkmendeňizderýaýollary (Turkmen Sea and River Lines), provides various types of logistics services.
