The purpose of the online meeting was to discuss opportunities for cooperation to improve the qualifications of specialists from the Ministry of Trade and Foreign Economic Relations of Turkmenistan.
Representatives of the Ministry of Trade and Foreign Economic Relations of Turkmenistan and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) held an online meeting with the Switzerland-based World Trade Institute on Thursday, the UNDP said in a press release.
The purpose of the meeting, held within the framework of the joint project “Strengthening the Trade Capacity of Turkmenistan”, was to familiarize the specialists of the project and the Ministry with the research activities of the Institute and discuss opportunities for cooperation to improve the qualifications of specialists from the Ministry of Trade and Foreign Economic Relations of Turkmenistan.
“Competitive modern economy requires skilled specialists, access to new knowledge and technologies. Therefore, UNDP is thrilled to facilitate a broad-based partnerships between our National Counterparts and leading international academic and research institutions, such as World Trade Institute,” said UNDP Resident Representative Natia Natsvlishvili.
Representatives of the Institute made presentations on the activities of the Institute in the field of trade research, and touched upon such topics as development economics and world trade, globalization, trade in services, open economy policy, competition and regulation of the firms, trade and investment policy.
The meeting participants noted the relevance of the new partnership in the context of the global pandemic and wished the early development of new partnerships between the Turkmen Ministry and the World Trade Institute.
The joint project of the Ministry of Trade and Foreign Economic Relations of Turkmenistan and the UNDP titled “Strengthening the Trade Capacity of Turkmenistan” is aimed at developing trade capacity of the country through the development of human capital.
