Bean Plantations Expand in Northern Turkmenistan

More than 20% of white beans’ composition is high-quality vegetable protein.

Farmers in Turkmenistan’s northern velayat of Dashoguz will grow white beans on 35 hectares of land in S.A. Niyazov etrap and on 30 hectares of land in Gurbansoltan-eje etrap this year, Turkmenistan’s Golden Age news outlet reported on Tuesday.

According to the report, the total area of bean plantations in the Dashoguz velayat amounted to 250 hectares this year.

White beans or noiba are very popular among local farmers. This type of legume is distinguished by a thin skin, unpretentiousness to an arid climate, an ability to adapt to sandy soil, and resistance to pests and diseases.

White beans also have beneficial properties, as more than 20% of their composition is high-quality vegetable protein.

Beans are a catch crop that matures in 100 days. The plant enriches the soil with nitrogen, thereby increasing its fertility.
