Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan to Implement New Transport Project

The new project includes the construction by the Turkmen side of a road to the Kazakhstan border and a bridge across the Garabogazgol Bay.

A new project in the field of transport and logistics cooperation between Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan will be the construction by the Turkmen side of a road to the Kazakhstan border and a bridge across the Garabogazgol Bay, Trend news agency reported on Tuesday with reference to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan.

The ministry said the implementation of the project will increase trade turnover, the volume of freight and passenger traffic.

According to the report, this is not the first joint project in the field of transport with the participation of Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan. The Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran railway was commissioned in 2014, which opened up new prospects for the further development of international cooperation.

The Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran railway has an important transport corridor connecting North to South and East to West. It also plays an important strategic role in the revival of the Great Silk Road and the development of mutual trade between the countries of Central Asia, the Caspian Sea region and adjacent regions.
